Like most of the house, it's a mixture of old and new, Chinese and Western. The antique Chinese picnic basket at the other end holds my jewelry. The jar in the middle is newly-crafted - a gift from my husband. Under it is some contemporary embroidery from Yunnan, in south west China. The plant holder is also modern, but the fish placed around it are 19th century opium weights.
